Author's Purpose
We have been talking about author's purpose, or the reason an author writes, in literacy. I have been reading different picture books to the students to see if they can decide whether the author's purpose is to entertain, inform, or persuade. I read a book called The Man Who Walked Between The Towers written by Mordicai Gerstein. We decided that the book was written to entertain, but also to inform because it is a true story of Philippe Petit walking on a wire between the World Trade Centers. I found a "You Tube" video that included pictures of the actual event taking place. The students have not seen the video so I decided to place it on for their enjoyment. Enjoy!
